MSD Animal Health & FVE Scholarship Program 2017  

Veterinary Student Scholarship Program 2017: grants of 5,000 $ available for 36 students!

MSD Animal Health and FVE call for applications for the 2017 scholarship grant.  The aim of the 2017 scholarship grants is to enhance the academic experience of 36 veterinary students (2nd and 3rd year from EU Veterinary Faculties across Europe) taking into account their diversity and financial needs.   Applicants can send the applications to stagiaire@fve.org Deadline for submission: 15 September 2017 Please, read carefully the eligibility criteria in the announcement.

Registration and Housing Open.  AALAS 68th National Meeting, October 15-19, 2017.

 

Opening General Session & Membership Meeting

Be on hand for the Opening General Session and General Membership Meeting on Sunday, October 15 from 5-6:30 PM in Ballroom D of the Austin Convention Center. Keynote Speaker, Teresa K. Woodruff will present, What to Watch: Three Breakthrough that May Change Our Lives in the Next 10 Years. Afterwards, attend the Welcome Reception in Ballroom G and listen to the Peterson Brothers!

 

Workshops: Invest in Yourself

When you register for the National Meeting, be sure to register for workshops too. Make an investment in yourself and attend a workshop to boost your technical or management skills. Registration forms and descriptions on the workshops are available here. Workshops count towards CEUs. Seating is limited! Register soon. 

 

Awesome Austin Updates

Here are a few new things to look forward to in Austin at the 68th AALAS National Meeting:

  • Two tracks will be offered for Sunday's Technical Trade Presentations: Husbandry/Facility Management and Novel Techniques/Technologies. 
  • The 2017 mobile app will have a game. Details to come.
  • The convention center has free wifi!
  • Meeting ribbons will be available at our new "serve yourself" ribbon wall. Branch ribbons debut this year as well.
  • The Opening General Session prize drawings will be computerized. Have your badge printed by 5:00 PM and automatically be entered. Attendees must be present to win.
  • Course evaluations will be loaded into the mobile app.
  • No "coupon" needed to collect your tote bag.

Exhibit Hall Reminders

Here's a rundown of important dates and times to keep in mind for the AALAS National Meeting Exhibit Hall.

  • Ribbon Cutting Ceremony: Monday, October 16, 8:30 a.m.
  • Refreshment Breaks: Check your Preliminary Program for days and times.
  • Poster Sessions: Come view this year's poster sessions, and don't miss the Poster Reception on Tuesday, from 2:00-4:00 p.m.  Meet the authors, enjoy some refreshments, and see who won this year's Poster Awards!
  • The AALAS Bookstore will be located in the Exhibit Hall this year. Stop by to see the latest products, pick up Tech Week 2018 supplies, and more.

AALAS members, when you register for the National Meeting by September 25 you save $100 over onsite pricing. AALAS members must log into the website to use the online registration portal. Use these quick links to help you plan for this year's meeting in Austin, TX. 

  • Getting Around: Need transportation info? Save this PDF.
  • Preliminary Program: Plan your days by reviewing the Preliminary Program. Access the digital edition and/or webpages loaded with daily education opportunities.
  • Mobile App: Stay tuned for info about the 2017 mobile app. We will let you know when it is ready for download.
  • Housing: AALAS has secured additional hotel rooms. 
  • AALAS Foundation Events: Donate to the Foundation's Silent and Live Auction. Complete the pledge form or email your pledge. Participate in the Guitar Animal Hero contest. Sign up to be an AREA volunteer in Austin. 

ILAM's 25th Anniversary Celebration

This year marks the 25th Anniversary of the ILAM Program. If you will be in Austin, please come to a special reception to celebrate. The reception is scheduled for Tuesday, October 17, 2017, 5:00-6:15 pm, Room 2 in the Austin Convention Center. Registration is required. Register, here or to get more information, please email Carolyn Simonton.

If you are going, be sure to order a special 25th Anniversary t-shirt to wear to the reception. Details here. Proceeds benefit the ILAM scholarship fund.
